What Personal Information About Members Does HALOS Gather?
Before using HALOS you must become a member and may be asked to impart certain information in order for HALOS to determine your membership eligibility. HALOS links all of your information with your account. Here are the types of information we gather.
Information You Give Us: We receive and store any information you enter on our mobile application or web site or give us in any other way. As part of the membership application process, we collect information that may include your name, state of residency, concealed carry license or driver’s license number and expiration date, and an image of your resident state issued identification (concealed carry license or driver's license). These help confirm that you have a valid concealed carry license or are a resident of a Constitutional Carry state, which may be a prerequisite for HALOS membership. We may ask for additional information that is not related to your membership application, which you may choose not to provide, but this may preclude you from taking advantage of HALOS features. We use the information that you provide for such purposes as responding to your requests, customizing current and future features, improving our offerings, and communicating with you.
Automatic Information: We receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with us. HALOS may use this information for various purposes, such as to save you the need to re-enter your log-in information each time you log-in, to facilitate the use of the application, to collect statistical information, to verify information, and to customize the application to your personal preferences and for information security purposes.
Mobile: When you use the HALOS application, we may receive information about your location and your mobile device. In addition to providing our map-based services, we may use this information to provide you with other location-based services, such as advertising, search results, and other personalized content. HALOS allows you to turn off location services in the event that you do not want to share your general location with other members.
In-Application Messages: HALOS primarily uses in-app messages to communicate with members. Concealed carry is an awesome responsibility, and we think that it should be top of mind every day for those of us who do carry.
Information from Other Sources: We might receive information about you from other sources and add it to our account information.
Accessing the Services
Your log-in details are your responsibility. You are fully accountable for any use or misuse of your account and personal details as a result of conveying your details to someone else. You must maintain the confidentiality of your log-in details and avoid disclosing them to others.
Does HALOS Share the Information It Receives?
We do not sell or reveal personal information to others other than in very specific exceptions. We share member information only as described below.
Aggregated information: HALOS may use anonymous, statistical or aggregated information (including anonymous location information), in a form that does not enable the identification of a specific user, to properly operate the Services, to improve the quality of the Services, to enhance the user experience, to create new services and features, including customized services, to change or cancel existing content or service, and for further internal, commercial and statistical purposes. HALOS may also use anonymous, statistical or aggregated information collected on the Services, in a form that does not enable the identification of a specific user, by making available such information to users of the Services, to the Services' providers, partners and any other third party.
Third-Party Service Providers: We may employ other companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf. Examples may include fulfilling orders, delivering packages, sending postal mail and e-mail, removing repetitive information from member lists, analyzing data, providing marketing assistance, providing search results and links, processing credit card payments, and providing member service. They have access to personal information provided by you, which may be needed to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes.
Promotional Offers: We may send offers to selected groups of HALOS members on behalf of other businesses. Should we do this, we do not give that business your name and address.
How Secure Is My Information?
HALOS considers information security to be a top priority. HALOS implements systems, applications and procedures to secure your personal information, to minimize the risks of theft or unauthorized access or use of information. We protect the security of your information during the application process by transmitting your information using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software. Additionally, we encrypt your information in a secure datacenter. However, HALOS cannot guarantee and you cannot reasonably expect that HALOS’s databases will be immune from any wrongdoings, malfunctions, unlawful interceptions or access, or other kinds of abuse and misuse. It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your mobile device as unauthorized use can expose your personal information.
HALOS endeavors to keep your location information deliberately ambiguous so that it is difficult for anyone to individually identify you using the map. HALOS grants you the ability to mask your location with settings in your personal preferences, however, it is possible for your identity to be revealed. You should exercise caution when setting your preferences to account for your current movements.
HALOS may permit, solicit or contract certain other companies to conduct advertising campaigns on the Services. The information and advertisements that you see when accessing the Services may be targeted on the basis of geographic or contextual information which we may collect from you. You agree that we may provide such information and advertisements targeted on the basis of your location history.
